Maple Feng Zhao 🍁

Feng Zhao (b.2000) is a Chinese illustrator, animator and visual artist based in London. She holds an MA in Illustration and Visual Media from the London College of Communication, with a background in visual communication and graphic design.

Informed by philosophy, sociology and critical thinking, her practice explores personal emotion, everyday experience and patterns found in the external world. Using photography as a tool for observation, she translates these elements into graphic and metaphorical symbols through illustration, animation and digital media.

Her work spans editorial, cultural, commercial and music-related projects, including collaborations with museums, fashion publications, cultural institutions and independent bands. Inspired by poetry, music and lyrics, Feng transforms language and sound into atmospheric visual narratives.

Through distinctive symbols and emotionally resonant characters, she creates layered images that invite viewers to look closer, reconsider familiar experiences and reflect on contemporary life and the wider social world.
